These band-crafted, ethnic inspired pieces are comprised of natural materials, indigenous to the historical and beautiful province of Cebu in the Philippines. Each wonderfully crafted piece is assembled with passion and dedication by skilled workers from the community, using whatever is available to them, such as wood seeds and shells.

Basic and honest is the mantra, as the focus settles on wood, basic yarns, wool, cotton, untreated
metals and simply glazed ceramics seen in tone-on-tone colour-blocking in bright colours and on
simple surfaces.

Recognisable objects are recycled and given new meaning and function. Inventive uses for familiar
materials are amusing and helpful. Old-school techniques, structures and patterns, such as piqué,
seersucker, polka dots and stripes, blend with new-school references to recycling and socioenvironmental
consciousness.

Reviewing functional fabrics with a simplified future sense results in a collection of materials informed by new technology, innovations in kinetic art and modernism. Replicating natural properties in leather and synthetics is key, as is reinterpreting the aesthetics of animal skin in manipulated leather and non-leather materials. Inventive offers an open-minded approach to pushing the development
boundaries for footwear and accessories this season.

Magpie Montage
"Use your imagination to create a loco mixed-media montage using reclaimed remnants, salvaged seconds and found fabrications. Piece together and reconstruct to breath new life into discarded ephemera for a sophisticated magpie montage."

Inventive
"Summon up the spirit of creativity, experiment, improvise, innovate, live in an artistic bubble and take a creative journey beyond the conventional."
